GREEN EGGS AND EMUS - Big Birds from Down Under
What's not to like about emus? These large Australian birds might resemble giant feather dusters on two legs, but they have many intriguing secrets. Emus belong to a family of birds called "ratites". They are an important part of Aboriginal mythology, and have also been a source of food and other important products to the indigenous people of Australia for thousands of years.
From her years of experience raising ratites and doing research for her books on emu husbandry, Maria Minnaar Bailey is uniquely qualified to satisfy your curiosity about these Big Birds from Down Under. To find out more about these fascinating birds, visit the Audubon meeting on Thursday, February 12 at 6:30 pm and Saturday February 14 at 1 pm, at Shoal Creek Conservation Education Center. This event is free and open to the public. Everyone is welcome!
