Baxter Springs Annual Encampment
Set for the first weekend in October each year. Held on the grounds of the Museum and on the Historic Fort Blair Site.
This Civil War period encampment offers re-enactors for both the Union and Confederacy, with weapon firing displays, camp life and mock battles. With guest speakers and special displays inside the Museum, that might include Native American or African American history, period dances, documentaries over the Civil War, the GAR (Grand Army of the Republic) or the settling of Kansas.
