Bass and Boomtown
Located on the back of Creative Car Audio, the mural features colorful gems, crystals, and bass speakers jutting out of a jagged mine with a mine cart rolling out of the mine shaft. In the background are a smoking refinery and rolling green hills.
The mural pays tribute to Joplin’s historic roots as a mining town. It also contains several references to its home at Creative Audio, such as the neon lights under the mine cart and large bass speakers.
Painted and designed by local artists Derek Wieberg and Austin Clay with help from the community, the mural was created as a capstone project by the 2025 class of Leadership Joplin.
