On the Wings of Butterflies
On the Wings of Butterflies
Location(s):
28th Street & St. Johns Blvd in Mercy Park
Spread you wings and fly! Stand in front of the colorful wings of this larger-than-life butterfly and extend your arms out wide for an incredible photo-op. This 10-foot-tall, 20-foot-wide mural is located on the site where St. John's Hospital once stood. The hospital was destroyed in the May 2011 tornado, and the land is now used as a public space known as Mercy Park. The butterfly mural represents the transformation of our city and the hope for a beautiful future.
The artists who created the mural are A.J. and Jordan Wood of Mythic Art & Mural; it was manufactured and installed by Whitehill Enterprises, LLC.
