Everett J. Ritchie Tri-State Mineral Museum and the Dorthea B. Hoover Historical Museum combine in this complex. When you enter the mineral museum you find yourself inside a replica of a mine shaft while discovering the origins of Joplin as a mining boomtown. Exploring the Historical Museum, you will hear the story of the city's growth and development into Missouri's 4th largest metropolitan area. Exhibits in the historical museum include: Historic Route 66, Bonnie and Clyde's adventures in Joplin, the National Cookie Cutter Museum, Joplin Sports Hall of Fame, and the mysterious Spooklight. Open Tuesday-Saturday. Nominal admission fee. Group discounts available.
